Mix some black or blue ink or a partial package of dye in a small amount of water. Put the mixture in a pump spray bottle such as an empty Windex sprayer.

Carefully position some plastic wrap under the feathers and over the entire shoe. Tape the plastic wrap around the shoe to hold it in place.

Sparingly spray the feathers. Use only enough water/ink mixture to barely moisten but color the feathers.

Allow the feathers to dry. You can blot them lightly. A second and third spraying may be needed to further darken the feathers.
