I just received a dress with something I've never seen before.

There's a ribbon sewn between the shoulders, across the neckline. Why is it there?

Is it just to keep the shoulders from stretching during shipping? Is it to keep them sliding off while wearing the dress?

I can get into the dress with it there, but I'm guessing I should cut it off. Do you agree??
