Can I wear my dark blue suit to a formal affair?
I am invited to a formal next week but I don't have a tux. All I have is a navy blue pinstriped suit.

Is that okay to wear?

And, if so, what type of shirt should I wear as well as what color shirt and tie?

That is alright to wear since you have no tuxedo. Look crisp and neat overall.

Have your suit cleaned and pressed.

Wear a bright and pure white shirt. If your have one that accepts cuff links, that will add a formal touch.

Wear a definitively striped dark blue, not overly-colorful tie.

Wear clean, polished, leather-sole shoes and a black leather belt.
