A sport coat with an unwrinkled crisp white shirt and coordinated slacks is appropriate. Often -- and always cool -- is a navy blue sport coat with khaki slacks made of either wool or cotton. Pants should be pressed and unwrinkled.

Jeans may be appropriate. You should judge this for yourself knowing the crowd and restaurant. But only clean, un-torn jeans.

Also a herring bone sport coat in blue or brown tones is good. Test your khaki pants with both of these.

A tie is optional and should be worn if the occasion tends toward the formal rather than the casual. Consider the specific event and who will be there looking at the way that you are dressed. Dress to impress those people without standing out as too over or too under-dressed.

And wear matching, clean and shined leather shoes -- leather uppers and soles.
